P11 ABYSS Audio Compressor
Overview
P11 Abyss is a chameleon audio compressor that can go ultra clean competing against the cleanest of mastering compressors or super dirty to compete against the best of the color compressors.
Modern producers, engineers and artists should not be constrained by the need to understand different characteristics offered by the multitude of physical compressor topologies. They should not need to project and translate that information into selecting the right tool for the right purpose. One would choose VCA when seeking deep, aggressive punch; Opto for clean, open, smooth action; Vari Mu for flowing, rhythmic pulsing.
Abyss casts physically imposed rules and constraints completely aside, allowing it to masterfully exhibit any characteristic that is desired. Aggressive, punchy, smooth, open, breathy, dense, clean, dirty… it’s all here at your fingertips. Abyss fulfills the dream of having a direct connection with the audio without being mired in technicalities.
Dive in and experience the infinite colors, hues and characters Abyss beautifully draws out of your audio. It is very much designed to be equally at home on individual tracks and instruments, group buses, returns and main buses. It is designed to fulfill all mixing, stem and stereo mastering needs.
Now, more than ever – Pulsar Modular – The sound is unbelievable.

Very Good Compressor, that needs time invested to better understand the inner workings.
A special compressor
P11 Abyss has quickly become my favourite compressor. It is very flexible, easy to use, CPU friendly, and it sounds amazing.
It does cost quite a bit, but considering how many compressor plugins I own, I imagine I could’ve made a saving had I had the chance to invest in it some 20 years ago. After purchasing it, P11 Abyss has replaced most other compressors in my daily use.
Even though Abyss can be set to destroy, especially with its saturation and clipper features, for absolute crushing of signals I still turn to other compressors. Other than those cases, Abyss has quickly become my go-to compressor regardless of the project.
It may not be perfect, but it just might be the best software compressor I’ve ever used, and it certainly is my favourite at the time of writing this.
Recently been using Abyss for mixing over 30 songs of folk-music. Together with the P42 it`s the ultimate pair for getting great results fast and easy. From smooth to clamping down and everything in between.
I don’t consider myself an expert in compression, so take this with a grain of salt, but: I’m able to get drums to sound quite loud with Abyss, without sounding obviously/excessively distorted.
Give it a demo and decide for yourself! There is a generous 40-day demo period.
very fun to work with , and it makes you work to get results.
there’s a lot of possibilities with this one.
the expand mode is on point, very good.
