P11 ABYSS Audio Compressor
Overview
P11 Abyss is a chameleon audio compressor that can go ultra clean competing against the cleanest of mastering compressors or super dirty to compete against the best of the color compressors.
Modern producers, engineers and artists should not be constrained by the need to understand different characteristics offered by the multitude of physical compressor topologies. They should not need to project and translate that information into selecting the right tool for the right purpose. One would choose VCA when seeking deep, aggressive punch; Opto for clean, open, smooth action; Vari Mu for flowing, rhythmic pulsing.
Abyss casts physically imposed rules and constraints completely aside, allowing it to masterfully exhibit any characteristic that is desired. Aggressive, punchy, smooth, open, breathy, dense, clean, dirty… it’s all here at your fingertips. Abyss fulfills the dream of having a direct connection with the audio without being mired in technicalities.
Dive in and experience the infinite colors, hues and characters Abyss beautifully draws out of your audio. It is very much designed to be equally at home on individual tracks and instruments, group buses, returns and main buses. It is designed to fulfill all mixing, stem and stereo mastering needs.

Great compressor. Because of the transformer saturation, it can be made cleaner or colored. At first, the sheer volume of features may be overwhelming. For instance, this one has Variable Linking, a Clipper, a Limiter, and the standard Threshold, Ratio, Attack, and Release. As is typical with Pulsar Modular plugins, it is worthwhile to take the time to learn this one.
It’s one of the best compressor plugins. Difficult but can do most of the tasks perfectly. In addition, it’s CPU-friendly.
P11 Abyss
This is the compressor that ends all compressors—and that’s coming from someone who owns just about every software compressor out there. Before the P11, my workflow was scattered: an LA for vocals, a 2500 for drum buses, a 76 on snares, kicks, bass, and guitars—but I was never completely satisfied. Each session felt like a guessing game, swapping compressors and second-guessing my choices.
The P11 changed everything. It just works—on anything. For the first time, a plugin compressor feels truly comparable to my hardware units. I own several stereo analog compressors, and this is the first plugin that captures that unmistakable analog vibe. In fact, I was saving up for another hardware unit, but after hearing the P11, I used that money to buy this instead.
What I love about it:
Versatility: From single instruments to buses to the master bus, it handles it all with ease.
CPU Efficiency: Hugely important for big sessions—no performance worries here.
Analog Character: On the 2-bus especially, it does something magical to the stereo image that most plugins simply don’t.
If you’re on the fence, try it—you might rethink your entire compressor lineup.
Once you take the time to learn P11 Abyss like an instrument, you realize there’s just no end to the things this compressor can do. It truly puts to rest the superstition that analog is just better, and feels alive in a way few ITB compressors ever achieve. It’s even a bit intimidating; all the better to master it!
This compressor is so freaking versatile that it will take months to explore all its possibilities and utilise its full potential. Luckily, the presets already are good starting points for various use cases. So you can achieve great results right away. Happy PM customer here. Thx a bunch.
