P22 RAIL
A time-domain A/D clipper with the stabilizing engine of P21 Atlas riding ahead of the rail. Pick a flavor, set DRIVE, listen. Three converters in spirit, near-zero latency, transients left exactly where the recording put them.
Choose your stage.
Same stabilizing clipper, same three flavors. The edition sets how many channels RAIL drives, and you can move from Stereo to Immersive whenever a session grows.
Every channel format RAIL supports, from mono through 9.1.6, clipped as one coherent program with the soundfield held in place.
The full engine and all three flavors on mono and stereo buses. Upgrade to Immersive whenever a session grows beyond two channels.
If a RAIL Stereo license loads on a multichannel bus, the plugin recognizes the unsupported layout and passes the audio through unchanged. Start with Stereo and upgrade to Immersive whenever your sessions move beyond two channels.
Carrying the DNA of Atlas.
Ahead of the rail sits a stabilizing engine, the same thinking that drives P21 Atlas. It rides peaks down before they clip, so the clipper shapes only what the engine could not catch rather than flattening everything that crosses the rail.
Impact, not flattened peaks.
The engine prepares peaks rather than slamming them, so the leading edge of a transient stays where the recording put it. A windowed clipper softens that edge as the cost of looking ahead. RAIL acts in the moment.
Right in the verse, right in the chorus.
The engine and the flavor carry the identity across the whole program as the material changes, peak after peak. You commit to a sound instead of babysitting a threshold from one section to the next.
Three samples. Fast enough for live.
At three samples of delay RAIL sits across many subgroups without delay piling up, and it is fast enough for live front-of-house use. It stays a characterful clipper, so keep a true-peak limiter last for delivery.
Three converters in spirit.
Choosing a flavor is choosing a sound. Pick the character first, then drive into it. Each flavor tolerates a different amount of drive before its character takes over.
The cleanest response, with minimal coloration and transparent peak control. Reach for it when loudness is wanted without added character, on material that is already well balanced and simply needs to be brought up.
A defined edge that adds presence and transient focus, a quicker and more decisive bend into the clipper than MODERN. Reach for it on rhythmic, produced material that wants snap and a sense of forward energy.
Asymmetric warmth and harmonic richness, shaped over a wider zone before the rail. It tolerates the most drive of the three. Reach for it when the program wants body and a fuller, rounder sound as it gets louder.
Hear what RAIL does in one pass.
On a mix you know well, place RAIL last and leave DRIVE at 0. Raise it until CLIP DEPTH reaches 2 to 3 dB on the loud peaks, step through the flavors, then press MATCH and toggle BYPASS to judge character at matched level. The interactive walkthrough takes it knob by knob.
One program across the soundfield.
RAIL Immersive treats every main channel as one program and clips them consistently, so the spatial image is preserved as you drive into the rail. The readout panel adapts to the bus it opens on.
The LFE channel is monitored but never clipped, passed through time-aligned with the mains. CLIP BAL shows how clipping is distributed across the front, surround, and height groups, so you can confirm it lands where you expect. Multichannel and immersive work needs the Immersive edition.
