P440 SWEET SPOT

Erst SOUL finden, dann O2.

One of the best mastering equalizers out there!
Just adding it to the mastering chain adds amazing color and freshness to the sound. The curves and filters are extraordinary, and you can bring out everything that was previously hidden in the mixdown. This plugin will significantly improve your professional sound quality.
This EQ is so transparent it sometimes seems like it's not working at all, but trust me, it's working! I find the P440 shines in delicate applications...Small adjustments. As others have stated, it is up to the task of master bus duty. Reminds me of Manley's Massive Passive.
Simple and effective equalizer. IIRC it was the first to incorporate the Tremor feature. 3 bands, HPF, LPF, High Shelf and Low Shelf. Now it also has a visualizer for those who want to see the eq curves.
TIBO is for tightening the low end, and can work along with the low end saturation. A bit expensive, but it has received numerous updates through the years.
One of the best EQ plugins for mastering. I needed to analyze every knob reading the manual but worth it
Fantastic mastering Eq!
It’s easy to improve the sound and difficult to get it sound bad.
Very musical Eq.
I appreciate the added Graphics showing the Eq-curves, so you can understand what some of the curves are doing. Edpecially the Shelfs are using some special curves. Usually use without the graphics. But if there something I want to pin-point, ot’s nice to be able to put it on.

The Ultimate Mastering EQ. Great for mixing with your ears and not your eyes. Every feature sounds great and is incredibly useful. A real tone machine for adding and balancing mixes!
The EQ points and curves are very musical and forgiving. Even with larger boosts or cuts, it's difficult to make things sound harsh or unnatural.
I boldly state that the P440 encourages experimentation, as it took me more than half a year to fully comprehend its capabilities. The latest addition of the EQ band visualizer is amazing, although I wish it had a spectrum analyzer as well.
"Sweet Spot" focus: The plugin lives up to its name. There's a certain "magic" to the way the EQ interacts with the audio, making it easy to find pleasing tonal balances.
One of the things I really enjoyed about this piece is that it is very simple to dial in a great sound. It doesn’t feel overwhelming and has just enough control to not be too simple. I’ve used this on vocal, instrument and drum buss to dial the mix in a bit and then I use it while mastering to give the overall mix a little more depth and detail.
It would be easy for some, I suppose, to pass this off as "just another EQ" and an expensive one at that. Now, I'm not a professional audio engineer, just a keen amateur producer/engineer but I can tell this is no ordinary EQ. For a start, Pulsar Modular's exquisitely designed GUIs make me want to use them. The interface is clean and the clearly laid out controls belie the complex functionality and processes happening under the hood. There's a learning curve to the P440 because it's much more than just an EQ but once the fundamentals have been grasped, it's easy to use. As I've said, I'm just an amateur so it's difficult to explain just what it is that sets this apart from many other plugins of the same category. What I do know is that it sprinkles that magic fairy dust on all my mixes and, like pretty much all the other PM plugins I own, gets used on almost every project. That alone makes it worth the investment. The continuous development and improvement of these products and the excellent post sales support makes this and all Ziad's product line excellent value for the money in my opinion.
Stellar sounding plugin!
A couple of months after I started using the P440 I posted a comment about it on Instagram saying I already used it on 90% of my masters. Ziad joked, asking why it wasn't 100%. It's close enough to that now.
Both ITB and analogue mastering starts with this in the processing chain to set the (elevated) tone, and some tightening and clearing. Even just the Transformer options, the HW varieties and Soul (+ more rarely O2) give the music a unique send-off into the rest of the processing. Indispensable.
A very interesting EQ / toneshaper that has made its way onto several masters. Spend some time getting to know it's nuances. It is very different and deeper than initial appearances would lead you to believe.
Great Product!
The p440 eq is a special one. Clean but gives body to the sound. It's certainly not easy to use at first but once you get the hang of it it opens up many possibilities. Don't mistake this with a regular digital eq. Tremor creates a nice cohesion with the ultra low frequencies and the low body of the kick. Tibo adds saturation exactly at the spot you want with the help of the bias knob. The shelves are also helpful in achieving the right amount of heft and sparkle.
Though it is not very easy to use at first, this is the best tone shaper with density, mojo, vitality but cleanness. Add to that, it’s incredible that it could be dealt with exceptionally low CPU usage except for OS/Soul on. Moreover, I like its GUI, however hope it should be get better visibility….
Well their products are certainly expensive but low costs. Want to buy other theirs in near future.
The best you can get! An amazing piece of software.
I was mixing an only piano and lead vocal track when I did try the P440. I put it on the master bus comparing with my Chandler plug in, Diamond Eq plug in, Manley Massive eq etc... and with only a few adjustments, the medium of my lead vocal jumped out of the speakers. The sound was so clear and with vibes and color at the same time. I did my master with this EQ and my client (a Female singer) said that it was the best vocal sound I ever made for her (my vocal plug-in chain was the same I did use on the other recordings for her) so I bought P440 immediately and then used it on maybe 20 mastering projects since! Usually on mastering eq I like treble or bass but never both, however, with P440 the low are as good as the mids and highs. P440 sounds exactly like an analog hardware high-end EQ- Clear, wide image, big and precise bottom, etc... A WINNER!
Still coming to terms with the potential of this plug in. Currently included in my goto list of EQs and continues to appear on projects. Well done PM.
Does what it says! Lovely for mastering or bus treatment.
I bought it in the initial period and I must admit that I had to reset my ear and spend some time on several aspects before I fully understood how it worked.
In the end, I think it is an absolutely outstanding and rather unique mastering plugin.
It is difficult for me to explain what it does that is unique but it is like being massaged by a great physiotherapist...! You think you are relaxed but instead, hidden tensions are resolved by the good professional. This is what P440 does to the sound, in my opinion.
I do apologise for the comparison, but I really cannot find any other more appropriate words.
This is an EQ that you need to spend some time with. You get wonderful blends of color using TX, Tremor, Bias, TIBO, Soul, O2, HW, MOD, and the shelves. There are a lot of flavors to explore and it's worth it.
I am reviewing this as a beginner who produces with ITB, not a professional.
I can't say it well, but my first impression is that the p440 has made my music sound like a stew that has been simmering well over several days.
It is pleasant to read the manual and explore the sound by moving the knobs and listening to the changes in the sound, as if my senses are being expanded in a more subtle way. It is a great learning experience.
I got so absorbed in touching the knobs during the demo that the day flew by and I decided to purchase the product. There are so many parameters that I didn't know what to expect. I don't think I will ever be able to understand everything about this EQ, but it is fun just to play with it. I lose track of time.
There is no such thing as an analyzer to visually display the changes in the sound, but I am not an engineer, so it did not bother me, and on the contrary, I felt I was able to pay attention to the changes in the sound.
I don't know if this EQ will be liked by professionals who have to produce a lot in a limited amount of time while maintaining a certain level of quality.
I think it works well with orchestral instrumental VSTs. I feel like I am able to fine tune the piano or orchestra that I have programmed into a rich sound.
I know this may be a luxury request as a beginner, but I have two requests: there is an AB compare button, but I would like to see more of them, and I would also appreciate an Undo and Redo button.
When demoing this EQ before purchasing, I would like you to try it for at least two days while reading the manual.
In Japanese.
an easy way to achieve for high level.
Pulsar Modular and P440.
This is my third PM plug-in. I purchased this as a leaper and although not as immediately captivating to my ears as I found P11 or P42 to be, I am now starting to connect better with the controls, feel the value and more importantly recognise its organic sound. The additional functionality and refinements since release are an excellent bonus and continue to demonstrate PMs commitment to providing us with top notch plugin wizardry!
A big thank you also, for providing a selection of presets, I typically find these invaluable when exploring a plugins capabilities.
Undoubtedly this is another winner!
This EQ has quickly become my favourite for slightly coloured and vibey eq duties. The sound is top class and it has many features that take it beyond eq. I find myself using less compression when this bad boy is in the signal chain. That is a good thing. So far, it is has kept evolving at a phenomenal speed too, getting new features every week. Surely this will come to an end, but it is very reassuring to know the dev is behind his product like no other dev I have yet come across in nearly 30 years of DAW-ing. The learning curve is steep and long. Controls are a bit different than all the other eq plugins, but that is perhaps even a good thing. It forces you to listen more and look at values less. Mixing is not math. I mainly use it on busses and masters. Sometimes I use it on single tracks as well. Sure, it is a mastering eq, but for tracks that just need a light touch, why not use the best? :D
What a great eq this is. It just never sounds bad what ever you throw at it. I was an early leaper on Sweet Spot and the way this thing has developed is something else. Just like P11Abyss and P42 Climax this thing has just got better over time. Bypass is fatal using this because it sounds so good. Great CPU usage is always welcome and Sweet Spot handles that very well. It just never sounds bad and i like what i hear.
Well Done Guys.
An excellent mastering eq and worth the price! It`s amazing how incredible the nuances sounds. Try the demo for understanding that feeling. Yes, the little variations are making the difference. This is just my best EQ on my future productions. Thanks a lot, Pulsar Modular, for another tremendous plugin!
When I set up P440 on a master, it felt subtle - I played around for a while and didn't feel like I had adjusted things much. When I bypassed it, I was blown away by how much was lost.
Lots of unique curves and loaded up with features, in keeping with Pulsar Modular's product line. Somewhat more CPU heavy than the others and hoping for a lighter mix version.
I fall in love to this plugin!!!
Perfect clearity, Perfect punch, Perfect sound!!
I would like to thank Pulsar Modular for this wonderful product.
I’m very happy with this purchase. Sure it’s spendy but it does sound great and I really like the interface/workflow.
Five stars for the plugin, and another (imaginery) one for the advertising copy.
my favourite plugin now and forever. I am using the P440 for so many weeks and I can't believe the great quality in designed and sound that it have.
The P440 is not just an eq. You have saturators that come with the transformers and HW emulations. So yes, this is an eq, but much more if you use all the options, and all sound more than right, are greats.
Thanks to the P440 I could take off a few plugins in the chain, now is a lot more efficience. Also, I suggest to try do the summing with the P440, work really nice.
Thanks again Pulsar Modular, this tool is a gem in the plugin's world!
A must-have companion for your sound journey in the new era.
With the addition of TIBO, we look forward to future developments.
masterpiece!
I used it as a mastering EQ in WaveLab11.
I felt unprecedented smoothness and transparency, and a generous amplification stage that does not easily collapse even when the gain is significantly increased. There are EQs from other companies that make it easy to understand and capture changes at individual points, but in such cases, the total nuance may not be preserved, and I feel that the P440 has some magic that does not destroy the overall image.
This EQ confused me at first. I tried it and was wondering what it was doing. opened in plugin doctor to get a feel for where the bands were when i was using it.
After I learned the basic settings... I started doing mixes with this, p42 and p11. For one of the first times my mixes feel open yet focused. There is balance in my sound.
I think in the past I would go hard on the eq resulting in boxed in sound. This plugin encourages different moves and the end result doesn't put it in a specific box. Even if you try... it wants you to win and you can't go wrong with any setting. I don't get it but in the end the mixes speak for themselves.
This EQ is in a league of it's own. When you take time to dig into it, it's versatility and sound are both outstanding. Another great tool in the toolbox!
The best sounding EQ
The best sounding software EQ I’ve yet to hear. Effortlessly processes audio in a subtle, but expensive sounding way. It’s like having a high end mastering EQ inside your computer.
This EQ is excellent. The sound is organic, very pleasant. For me it would be even better if it had a graph that showed the curves we create, because it's not always easy to know what it's doing. I know we have to trust our ears, but sometimes a visual aid is beneficial. Good job !
Extremely solid sounding tool. Functions more than just an EQ! I use it as an EQ and summing on my 8 pre master buses.
Probably my favourite alongside P42. Pulsar Modular products really improve workflow and lead to a less processed sound.
Sounds Great! Here is a proof that there is always room for improvements in good plug-ins !
Keep the good work! Thank you!
Amazing looking plugin. Definitely going to be a staple
After trying this out, this is hands down the best EQ on the market to date!
I have not tried a better sounding software EQ, and the workflow is among the best I've used as well.
P440 not only allows me to quickly achieve the sound I'm looking for, it actually somehow sounds better than what I intended.
It feels like I have entered a new world with P440. I didn't know all I need is Tremor, these curves, O2+Soul and TX section (cannot pass HW,MOD and OS) for my Hip-hop production or mixing when the thing is EQ. I feel like I'm "IN THE ZONE" when my chain goes through P42, P11 and P440 (much Love to dasoundjunkie. I'm grateful for all the tips). When it passes through P440, it is the last kiss (especially on my Drum Bus and Mix Bus). I think this is not a game changer. This is the NEW GAME!
Thank you Pulsar Modular team!
Similar to my experience with P42 Climax, the P440 Sweet Spot is subtle, but right for the job. When I bypass the plugin I am astonished with how much heavy lifting - in the most transparent way - the P440 is doing. Incredible work Pulsar Modular, you really do build masterpieces.
You need to have the heart and ears to understand this EQ, I felt it before it became obvious what the Dials were really doing and then when you bypass it, there is something quite essential missing that is hard to replicate with my other tools. This is a sound-opener-deepener-bodygiver kind of tool. Nicely done.
The care and attention that has gone into this EQ is something special. You can tell it is developed with a vision and in collaboration with other mastering engineers who are simply looking for the best tools for the job. The design and UI are also first class.
This is a bit of a landmark release in my opinion and I am looking forward to really getting to know the different elements it has to make your mix jump and come to life. Exciting times!
My first experience with P440 was like the first time I powered up my Overstayer MAS. I thought it's very subtle, at times I was wondering if it's doing something to my signal... then you bypass it and you quickly realise that you've found a very special tool. I don't even use P440 as an EQ, more like a sweet enhancer.
I've been mixing and mastering for years and seen many plugins come around and claim to be the end all be all of eq/compresser/etc... Given Pulsar Modulars track record of quality and performance that I've been fortunate to enjoy with P11, P42, and P565 I bought this one as a leaper before I even heard it and well, lets just say that I am thrilled to have hit the jackpot on that gamble. The P440 has become indispensable to my work and I am amazed at how it sounds and excited every time I use it because nothing else I've ever tried does what this does. Truly a masterpiece!
Sweet Spot really says it all. Just playing around with the settings on any source until boom yes! There it is the “sweet spot!” It would be easy to say, this is the best or only EQ you need- but that probably isn’t true. However, it is truly an excellent tool that seems to be very quick at achieving the desired sound. Low CPU, zero latency and that Tremor band… that is some magical, deep low end shiz happening
It´s easy to review a piece like this - masterclass!
My review is simple: P440 is my new go to EQ for mastering and mixing!
It's alive! The sound of P440 will blow you away. Close your eyes and listen and you won't believe what you're hearing isn't hardware. When you use it you'll realise it's far more flexible than other eq's you may have used in the past. P440 - This is the Future!
Best EQ Plugin
I've been waiting! ! best EQ
Congratulations on your release! !
Out of my price range, but very nice.
What a special and wonderful organic sounding EQ this is and I will happily pay the price for this. It's here to stay on my mixbus and beats the ones I previously used. Thanks for superb coding. Top stuff!
I have so many EQ plugins and it was hard to believe that between them all something was still missing.
But there is something so natural, warm and organic about the P440 which none of my other EQ’s have. Rather than compromise the sound it enhances it.
One of my best tests for EQ is on acoustic guitar. It has such a delicate and nuanced sound. Most EQ’s mess with the subtleties and transients, but P440 can improve them, making them even more magical.
P440 is a truly innovative software EQ.
I am, I think, a rare individual who does not care if a digital device sounds 'analog' or not. I just want it to sound good. Or better, great. What I get with P440 is better than that. It sounds phenomenal. And there really isn't much more to say than that.
This thing lives and breathes. And it has given my music a little more life and breath. Love it. Clarity - gloss - precision.
Is it worth the money????
Is your music?
i've been waiting for such a tool for so long... beautiful sound and coloration, a clear contender to my analog mastering eq's. congratulations!
This is the most musical, truly beneficial-to-source digital equaliser I have used to date.
It works perfectly in any production context including the critical stage of mastering.
Congratulations on making a new classic!
There's such a delightful finesse to P440's soundprint, it won't leave my mastering chain anytime soon. The sound is alive and elegant no matter how you set it. The lack of visual cues is super refreshing, it forces you (well, it faces me) to listen to the bands interacting. Finally, I'm fascinated by its flexibility despite the seemingly limited set of parameters. A stunning tour de force.
Stellar, stellar EQ : bravo ! It deserves all the superlatives.
