Q SAHARA
Drive the input, pick a ratio, listen. No threshold to chase, no milliseconds to read.
Sahara is the first of the Q-Series: one job, done well, light on the CPU. The Recoil circuit from P19 Igloo sits behind a fixed internal threshold, so the amount of compression is set by how hard you drive the input, the way classic input-driven hardware works. Attack and release follow the program instead of fixed times, the ratio sets the knee as much as the amount, and the whole thing runs at zero latency with oversampling off.

The threshold is fixed at -18 dBFS. Everything else follows from how hard you drive it and how the music moves.
INPUT is a drive control, not a trim: turn it up and Sahara compresses more, turn it down and it relaxes. Hold Shift and the OUTPUT knob counters every move, so you judge the compression at matched loudness instead of being fooled by level. The ratio steps from 1.5:1 to 40:1 set the strength and harden the knee as they climb; even at 40:1 Sahara is not a limiter, it only gets firmer and denser.
ATTACK and RELEASE are not times but biases. Negative values sharpen articulation and tighten tails, positive values round the transient and let air and groove through, and large release values are normal on acoustic and bus material. The feed-forward detector can be filtered with a stepped high-pass, fed from an external sidechain, or given the Hammer emphasis for voice and natural instruments. MIX blends wet and dry on a constant-power law for parallel work.

- INPUT drives the signal into the fixed threshold; OUTPUT compensates. With Shift held they move against each other, so a preset can be judged as intended, without loudness bias.
- RATIO
- Seven steps: 1.5, 2.5, 4, 7, 10, 20 and 40. Lower ratios stay soft and forgiving, higher ratios tighten control and harden the knee. Not a limiter at any setting.
- ATTACK · RELEASE
- Program-dependent. The knobs bias the compressor toward faster or slower behavior; the timing itself adapts to phrasing and dynamics, and even to the buffer size of the session.
- HAMMER · SUB · OS
- Hammer adds a frequency-dependent emphasis to the detector for voice and natural instruments. SUB bypasses the internal 20 Hz filter for kick-heavy material. Oversampling in three flavors: Vintage, Intelligent and HD.

Sahara ist der Erste der Q-Series: eine Aufgabe, gut gemacht, sparsam mit der CPU. Die Recoil-Schaltung aus dem P19 Igloo sitzt hinter einem festen internen Threshold, sodass die Stärke der Kompression davon abhängt, wie hart Sie den Eingang anfahren, wie bei klassischer eingangsgesteuerter Hardware. Attack und Release folgen dem Programm statt festen Zeiten, die Ratio bestimmt das Knee ebenso wie die Menge, und das Ganze läuft latenzfrei bei ausgeschaltetem Oversampling.

Kompression nach Gefühl.
Der Threshold liegt fest bei -18 dBFS. Alles Weitere ergibt sich daraus, wie hart Sie anfahren und wie sich die Musik bewegt.
INPUT ist ein Drive-Regler, kein Trim: aufdrehen, und Sahara komprimiert stärker, zurücknehmen, und er lässt nach. Mit gehaltener Shift-Taste gleicht der OUTPUT-Regler jede Bewegung aus, sodass Sie die Kompression bei gleicher Lautheit beurteilen, statt sich vom Pegel täuschen zu lassen. Die Ratio-Stufen von 1,5:1 bis 40:1 bestimmen die Stärke und härten mit jedem Schritt das Knee; selbst bei 40:1 ist Sahara kein Limiter, er wird nur fester und dichter.
ATTACK und RELEASE sind keine Zeiten, sondern Tendenzen. Negative Werte schärfen die Artikulation und straffen die Ausklänge, positive Werte runden die Transiente und lassen Luft und Groove durch, und große Release-Werte sind bei akustischem und Bus-Material normal. Der Feed-Forward-Detektor lässt sich mit einem gerasterten Hochpass filtern, von einer externen Sidechain speisen oder mit der Hammer-Betonung für Stimme und Naturinstrumente versehen. MIX mischt Wet und Dry nach einer Konstantleistungskurve für die Parallelarbeit.

- Programmabhängig. Die Regler neigen den Kompressor zu schnellerem oder langsamerem Verhalten; das Timing selbst passt sich Phrasierung und Dynamik an, sogar der Puffergröße der Session.

- Hammer gibt dem Detektor eine frequenzabhängige Betonung für Stimme und Naturinstrumente. SUB umgeht das interne 20-Hz-Filter für kicklastiges Material. Oversampling in drei Varianten: Vintage, Intelligent und HD.

スレッショルドは-18 dBFSに固定。あとはどれだけ強く押し込むかと、音楽がどう動くかで決まります。
INPUTはトリムではなくドライブです。上げればSaharaは強くかかり、下げれば緩みます。Shiftを押したままにするとOUTPUTノブがすべての動きを打ち消すので、レベルに惑わされず、揃った音量でコンプレッションを判断できます。1.5:1から40:1までのレシオのステップは、強さを決めると同時に、上がるほどニーを硬くします。40:1でもSaharaはリミッターではなく、ただ締まりと密度が増していきます。
ATTACKとRELEASEは時間ではなく、傾きです。マイナス側はアーティキュレーションを鋭くしテールを締め、プラス側はトランジェントを丸めて空気感とグルーヴを通し、アコースティックやバスの素材ではリリースを大きくするのが普通です。フィードフォワードの検出回路は、ステップ式ハイパスでフィルターしたり、外部サイドチェインで駆動したり、声や生楽器のためのHammerの強調を与えたりできます。MIXは定電力則でウェットとドライをブレンドし、パラレル処理に向きます。
