P44 MAGNUM

Another plugin that just creates the "Analog" sound. This goes on every bass track I've mixed in the last 2 years. Pure magic. It just sits the bass just right in the mix. It's great on lots of stuff! Just demo and try it. You'll be a believer!

This and P42 are always my go-to saturator. Top notch!

I really love the saturation of this plugin and the clipper for keeping levels under control. Like all Pulsar Modular plugins, it's top quality.

Oh my, this is so good on bass guitar! I dime the "oomph" and "poomph", bring the saturation to about 50% and use the "sweet" to balance out the high end, then dial it back a bit with the mix knob (I find it's a little too heavy-handed in the low end 100% wet, even with the sliders set to 0%). I wish "oomph" and "poomph" had a *subtractive* slider instead of additive. Maybe in an update!

IIRC, it started as a lighter version of the P42 Climax. I still have the P42 Jr. In addition to saturation, this one has a clipper as well as options to shape a bit of the low frequencies (oomph and poomph) and high ones (sweet). Simpler than the P42, but very useful as well.

One of the best distortion plugins. Love the low end enhancement too. Nice for sound design.

More than just a transformer emulation, this is your all in one bass shaper... drum bus, mix bus, bass... it's like MSG, sprinkle a little love on any bass heavy sound that needs to bloom and blossom, you'll never go back.

The saturation is excellent, and the clipper in this plugin is truly impressive.
It’s also great for shaping the low end—Oomph and Poomph make it easy to dial in just the right weight and punch.

I grabbed the P44 Magnum since I wanted the best distortion plugin I could find.

Not only is the distortion and clipping aspects of this plugin great, but its use for more subtle saturation is not to be underestimated.

I didn't expect to be using this on my busses and master busses as much as I do, when looking to add or change the overall character of a mix in subtle to extreme ways, all while remaining completely musical and harmonic.

What I like:
* All-in-one convenience: Having EQ, clipping, and saturation in one plugin streamlines my workflow. It's quicker to dial in a sound without having to load multiple plugins.
* Sound quality: The P44 Magnum sounds great. The EQ is smooth and musical, the clipping is groundbreaking, and the saturation adds a pleasing touch of analog warmth.
* Intuitive interface: The layout is clear and simple to navigate. Even with all the features, it doesn't feel overwhelming.
* Versatility: I can use it on a variety of instruments and vocals, making it an invaluable tool for my entire mix.
How I use it:
* Vocals: I often use the P44 Magnum as the first plugin on my vocal tracks. The EQ helps me shape the vocal tone, the clipping tames the dynamics, and the saturation adds a bit of warmth and presence.
* Acoustic guitar: It works well for adding clarity and body to acoustic guitar recordings. A touch of clipping and some gentle EQ adjustments can make a big difference.
* Electric guitar: I've found it useful for shaping the tone of my electric guitar tracks, especially when I want a more polished and produced sound. The saturation can add some extra grit and character.
* Bass: The EQ and clipping sections are effective for tightening up bass lines and making them sit better in the mix.
* Mixing individual tracks and busses: I sometimes use it on individual tracks to quickly get a good starting point and sometimes even on sub-mixes (like drum busses) for overall tonal shaping.

P44 Magnum!!! This, among other things, is my CLIPPER OF CHOICE!!! I also play bass, and this is such an amazing tool for helping me shape my various parts and layered bass parts. It's strong, warm, natural, and powerful!

I found this amazing piece of art on Who Is Alex Elliot’s YouTube channel and I am very impressed by the quality of this plug-in. You are able to make this sound as clean or as dirty as you want. This is a a must on bass, you can add just a bit of saturation and mix in the Oomph and Sweet knobs and can make any dull bass have some character and body in the mix. I’ve used this on drums, bass and even vocals.

Pulsar Modular has been one of those plugin brands that always try to make things different. Magnum is an absolute beast. The three different knobs and saturation sound gorgeous, and the clipper inserted is a fantastic tool. 10/10.

The P44 is true magic, i usually have it on my master bus positioned right before the limiter. and it truly transforms my mix - even with just little movements, my mix sounds more full & professional, more finished, it really "completes" the track.

Sometimes you are looking for a sound and you can't get it. None of the thousand tools in your hands seem to be able to achieve it but then you throw yourself towards a niche product, known by few, few like those who know what to use to get that sound and... Bingo, you find it!
This is what happened to me with the P44 Magnum by Pulsar Modular. Another example: a few days ago in my studio while with a new client of mine, I introduced the P44 Magnum taking a track already mastered by his previous engineer and acting only on OOMPH, POOMPH and SWEEET controls, my guest exclaimed: “Wow-wow-wow, unbelievable, I want this plugin on all my new tracks!"

Incredibly easy to use, and the sound! Organic, tasteful and on point with what I'm looking for. And at the risk of sounding cliche, it sounds analog - I'm having a good hard look at what I need to keep out of the box now.

This is PURE MAGIC on bass guitar and bass instruments. Seriously no other plugin will sit your bass so perfectly in the mix. Level, polished, perfect. Well done!!! Fantastic on anything low end. This is 30 minutes into the demo and I HAVE TO HAVE IT!

Love this one, so much that I’ve ended getting the P44 Magnum. They complement each other very well. Saturation and clipper are amazing, very musical and rich sounding.

I wasn't sure at first if this was going to be different enough from P42 to be worth it, but after using it awhile it definitely is. I especially love the clipper and mod circuit saturation. The only complaint I have if you can even call it one is the CPU usage with everything on. It sounds so good though that it's totally worth it. Haven't even mentioned the tone shaping options, which are unique from anything else I've heard. Overall wonderful plugin!

This has become a versatile and important part of my mixing tool kit. It has also largely taken the steam out of my exploration of DIY hardware summing or analog sweeteners. I use this largely on group busses, mix bus, and sometimes on individual channels to help sculpt not just the bottom and top, with the Oomph, Poomph and Sweet, but the sweet O2 control for dialing midrange presence or thickness. I also use the clipper quite a bit to delicately control peaks. It's a seemingly simple tool but for me has so many ways to respectfully shape whatever I'm working on, like most Pulsar tools, it will only get better as I learn more ways to coordinate all the controls available.

Yet another fantastic product from Pulsar. P44 Magnum is a great tone shaper and the clipper is the cherry on top. It works well on tracks or the two bus. Great sound without over complicating the gui. Like P42 Climax I love how quick you can dial this in and get that wow factor you miss when it's bypassed.

P44 is my final stage on every track for polishing. It helps me to work fast and focussed on the task and pushes great things even further. All the fine changes necessary are so easy done with it, that it has become indispensible for me.

Totally different sound from P42 Climax, so useful in different ways. The real star here for me is the clipper, which could easily be sold by itself and considered one of the top software clippers.

I tried the demo and knew I had to buy it. This thing can add some serious thump and colouration. It's pretty much on every bus now, even if it's just for the clipper. Highly recommended.

I was not sure which to buy, the P42 or the P44, but I bought the P44 first.
The P44 is a clipper and the P42 is a saturator, not a successor, but they seem to have different roles.
I can't explain it well, but the sound change by the O2 knob is very good.

For all those comparing the P44 to the P42, aside from the saturation it's a totally different beast! For everyone wishing for HPF/LPF, use P42 after P44; They work great together!

Expected a lightweight P42, got a brilliant companion.

Oomph and Poomph are great to add a bit of weight where you don't expect it. Try it on synth busses or anything else that feels too flat or digital.

Sweet is a one knob sweetener that does a multitude of things at once. I use it a little less than the other options because it uses quite a bit of CPU.

The clipper is the best hardware clipper on the market from what I've tried. Ziad has promised a soft clipper in the future, so I'm looking forward to that.

The saturation circuit is the same as P42 I'm fairly sure.

Overall, Oomph and Poomph alone are worth the admission price. Sweet is a useful counterpart for the high end. O2 breathes life into anything. The saturation is a nice bonus, especially if you don't own P42. But why the heck wouldn't you own P42?

Man, the power this thing creates. It’s amazing, sounds amazing. Only thing I would add are some high & low pass filters but honestly that would only be a plus not a set back. Great plug-in!

Such a great little unit, it lives on my master bus both to tighten up the bottom end as well as breathe life into the top. I originally thought it was an either/or proposition with regard to the P42—which I already had—but in conjunction they are twin halves of a true sonic masterpiece. Well done, PM!

When the first iteration the 'Junior' was made available, I was expecting nothing more than a slimmed down version of the P42 Climax. From jump I was very excited to have totally underestimated the P44's differences and singular sound. All of the new tone shaping features have the typical Pulsar Modular responsiveness and euphonic color. I've used this on sources as varied as Hammond, vocals, guitars, snare, and piano tracks, in both the first 'preamp' position in the strip to last, using the clipper and tape-like finishing sheen that the P44 can add (thanks to the posts and presets from Gearspace for that).

Once again, Pulsar Modular proves that the quality of the code and quality of sound have resulted in an instant classic and proves that a born-digital plugin can be as good or better than analog gear and consistently superior to modeled/sampled digital versions of analog gear.
