P422 Fairuz 3.0.1 — Linux (VST3 + LV2, x86_64)
Pulsar Modular — https://www.pulsarmodular.com/
====================================================

P422 Fairuz 3.0.1 for Linux is the same plug-in as on macOS and Windows,
built for Linux and tested in Ardour 9, Mixbus 11.3 and REAPER 7.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
-------------------
- x86_64 Linux with glibc 2.34 or newer. That covers:
Ubuntu 22.04+ (and Ubuntu Studio), Debian 12+, Linux Mint 21+,
    Pop!_OS 22.04+, Fedora 35+, openSUSE Leap 15.6+, RHEL/Alma/Rocky 9+,
    Arch / CachyOS / Manjaro.
NOT supported: Ubuntu 20.04, Debian 11 (glibc 2.31) and older.
  Check yours: getconf GNU_LIBC_VERSION
- libfreetype, libfontconfig, libcurl (present on every desktop install).

INSTALL — pick ONE method
-------------------------
A) DEB PACKAGE (Ubuntu / Debian / Mint / Pop!_OS):
     sudo apt install ./p422-fairuz_3.0.1-1_amd64.deb
Installs the LV2 system-wide (/usr/lib/lv2), links the VST3 into every
user's ~/.vst3, and copies the 276 factory presets to
   ~/.local/share/Pulsar Modular/P422 Fairuz/Presets (existing presets are kept).
Remove later with: sudo apt remove p422-fairuz
An account created after the install has no VST3 link; add it with:
     sudo dpkg-reconfigure p422-fairuz

B) TARBALL (any supported distro, no root):
     tar xzf p422-fairuz-3.0.1-linux-x86_64.tar.gz
     cd p422-fairuz-3.0.1-linux-x86_64
     ./install.sh
   Installs into ~/.vst3, ~/.lv2 and ~/.local/share (or $XDG_DATA_HOME).
Remove later with: ./uninstall.sh (from the same folder; presets kept)

!! USE ONE METHOD ONLY. Two copies of the LV2 (~/.lv2 + /usr/lib/lv2) make
Ardour and Mixbus crash. The installers detect this: install.sh refuses to
run while the .deb is installed, and the .deb warns about a tarball copy in
~/.lv2 or ~/.vst3 (it never touches it).

Verify downloads: sha256sum -c --ignore-missing SHA256SUMS

Then RE-SCAN plug-ins in your DAW (REAPER / Bitwig / Carla). Ardour and
Mixbus scan LV2 at start-up: restart them. The LV2 is listed as an
equaliser plug-in ("Equaliser Plugin" in Mixbus).

LICENCE
-------
P422 uses the new Pulsar Modular licence system. Without a licence the
plug-in replaces the audio with quiet white noise (about -59 dBFS) - that is
intentional, not a fault.
To activate: open the plug-in window, click into the Key field, paste your key
(Ctrl+V or right-click > Paste) or type it, and click Activate. This works in
REAPER, Ardour and Mixbus without any extra host setting. Activate ONCE: the
licence is per user and computer and covers every host and both formats (VST3
and LV2) on this computer. "Deactivate" frees this computer's seat.
The licence is stored per user in ~/.config/Pulsar Modular/Licensing and is
tied to this installation (/etc/machine-id). Reinstalling Linux or cloning
the system creates a new machine ID and therefore counts as a new device.
If the plug-in suddenly reports "unlicensed" on a machine where it was
activated, please contact us instead of re-activating (activations are
limited).
The licence agreement is LICENSE.txt next to this file (the .deb installs it
as /usr/share/doc/p422-fairuz/LICENSE.txt).

WHICH FORMAT
------------
- REAPER: prefer the VST3 (REAPER cannot automate LV2 parameters of JUCE
plug-ins, and its LV2 parameter readback is unreliable).
- Ardour / Mixbus: both work.
- Bitwig: VST3 (Bitwig has no LV2 host).

NOTES
-----
- The user guides are included (English, German, Japanese; Print and Dark):
≡ menu > Manuals opens them in your PDF viewer. Chapter 20 is about Linux.
≡ menu > Quick Guides opens the quick guide on pulsarmodular.com.
- HiDPI / 4K: the LV2 follows the DAW's own UI scale (Ardour/Mixbus:
Preferences > Appearance > GUI and Font scaling), the VST3 follows the
desktop scale. With e.g. 150 % desktop scaling and 100 % in the DAW the
LV2 looks small and the VST3 big. Set the DAW's GUI scale to your desktop
  scale to make them match.
- Ardour / Mixbus, VST3: the plug-in window is at least as wide as the
host's toolbar; when P422 is narrower than that it is shown centred with
a dark border instead of being stretched.
- REAPER: opening the plug-in window stores the window size in the project,
so REAPER marks the project as modified. Harmless.
- Meter timing vs audio: if your DAW runs on the PulseAudio backend, audio is
output-buffered by ~150 ms and ALL meters (the DAW's own included) appear to
fire early against what you hear. For meter judgement set the DAW's audio
system to ALSA or JACK (REAPER: Options > Preferences > Audio > Device).
- Crackles under load are usually missing realtime privileges, not the plug-in:
    sudo usermod -aG audio $USER
    printf '@audio - rtprio 95\n@audio - memlock unlimited\n' | \
      sudo tee /etc/security/limits.d/99-audio-rt.conf
then log out/in. On laptops also use the 'performance' power profile
(powerprofilesctl set performance) for low-latency sessions.
- The plug-in reads presets/guides from
  ~/.local/share/Pulsar Modular/P422 Fairuz/ (per-user, no root needed),
  or from $XDG_DATA_HOME/Pulsar Modular/P422 Fairuz/ if XDG_DATA_HOME is set.
- Presets and settings stay after apt remove/purge and after uninstall.sh.
