Sahara was designed around a simple idea: great compression should feel immediate without forcing you to chase thresholds or numbers.

Fixed Threshold, Modern Gain Staging

Sahara operates around a fixed internal threshold at –18 dBFS, aligned with classic reference levels. In modern sessions, signals often interact with the compressor as soon as it is inserted.

This is intentional.

Instead of setting a threshold, Input becomes your drive control. You decide how hard the signal hits the compressor, delivering consistent behavior across tracks, sessions, and presets.

An Original Pulsar Modular Design

A fixed threshold does not imply a vintage emulation. Sahara is not modeled after the 1176 or any specific hardware.

Like other Pulsar Modular tools, Sahara follows an original design path. Its compression curve, detector response, and timing behavior are purpose-built, program-dependent, and optimized for modern workflows and dense mixes.

Presets That Respect Your Signal

Sahara’s presets assume you will drive into the compressor, not compensate with output gain.

For accurate auditioning:

  • Hold Shift

  • Adjust Input, Output follows

  • Stop when the Output meter overlaps the Raw Input meter

You are now hearing the preset as intended, with loudness matched and dynamics revealed.

Ratio, Knee, and Feel

Ratio and knee work together as a single musical curve. Higher ratios naturally tighten the knee, moving from gentle leveling toward firmer control, without turning Sahara into a limiter.

Attack and Release are program-dependent, with controls that bias the feel rather than set fixed times.

Low End That Stays Grounded

Sahara v1.5 keeps low frequencies contained and physical, preserving bass weight without excessive gain reduction or audible pumping. The low end stays present and connected, even under heavier compression.

Hammer: Control What Matters

The Hammer control applies an EQ-weighted emphasis around 600–900 Hz, helping Sahara stabilize vocals and instruments where intelligibility lives, without dulling highs or overreacting to lows.

Built for Real Sessions

Sahara remains extremely light on the CPU, making it easy to use across large sessions without hesitation.

No calibration rituals. No hidden complexity.

Just drive it, shape it, and move on.

Q Sahara v1.5.0 is available today through your Pulsar Modular account & Q Sahara webpage.

A fully functional 30-day demo is available. If you have previously demoed Q Sahara and did not purchase, you can request a demo reset to re-evaluate the plugin with the latest version.
